I have had night terrors in the past, but had not had one in over year, until I started working on this song. I had a night terror the night I wrote the first verse and chorus.

In this song, I tried to capture the blurring of dream and reality that occurs in these extreme night mares. In my terror, there was an intruder in my apartment which looked exactly as it does in real life. I tried to get up or yell, but I was experiencing sleep paralysis. Once the intruder was kneeling over me in my bed, I was finally able to move. I woke sitting up in bed, screaming with my heart pounding and my hand going through the air, as his face dissolved into my ceiling fan.
