about

A future colony on a moon is staffed by robots and clones who believe they're human. They "elect" leaders by means of a Snapchat-like vote, candidates chosen at random (or are they?).

Most of them don't last in office for more than a few days.

lyrics

I've been elected a minister
But I don't know what for
First day: a trade dispute to manage
An outbreak and the war
Just yesterday I was some guy
who fixed the maglev trains
Now it's my face up on the Free-Vee
And everyone complains

The vote's done by videophone
And your thoughts may not be your own
We're all either droids or clones
I may not make tomorrow but tonight I'll be alone
Overthrown

To vote you swipe to the left or to the right
Depends on who you like the best
The winner runs Titan Colony
till they're replaced or put under arrest
Choosing candidates at random
may have closed a few loopholes
But if you can't refuse the service
then who's really in control?

The vote's done by videophone
And your thoughts may not be your own
We're all either droids or clones
I may not make tomorrow but tonight I'll be alone
Overthrown

The vote's done by videophone
And your thoughts may not be your own
We're all either droids or clones
I may not make tomorrow but tonight I'll be alone
Overthrown
