about
This song is about John Lennon's best friend, Stuart Sutcliffe.
When Stuart sold his first painting, he used the money to purchase a bass guitar.
He then joined The Beatles.
While playing in Hamburg, Stuart met a German girl called Astrid, and fell in Love.
He decided to leave the band, and focus on Love and art. Paul then took over Stuart's duty on bass.
Not long after, Stuart died of an aneurysm. He never got to see The Beatles make it big.
Stuart had a significant impact on John's lyrics.
Also, he was the first Beatle to wear his hair in a mop top.
He has had a profound influence on fashion and on pop-music (The Beatles), yet somehow, most people have never heard of him.
lyrics
John, what can I do?
I think I Love this girl
Leaving the band
To take her hand
And run away together
Hope you understand, it's Fate
You're gonna be a big star, you wait
We've come so far
You'll be better off
That's the truth
I'm no use
Keep me in your heart
Don't cry
Sing a tune
I'll be waiting for you, John
I'll see you soon
Love is all you need
Someday you'll figure out
I Love you, John
You're my best friend
And though my time is over
This is not the end, you'll see
I've painted pictures of you and me
Pictures of Love
I'll be lingering
On your mind
In your song
Man, it won't be long
Don't cry
Sing a tune
I'll be waiting for you, John
I'll see you soon
All the fame will mask the pain
The shame and confusion
Astrid knows
We come and go
Best regards to you old friend
WAIT!
You'll see
I've painted pictures of you and me
Pictures of Love
And I'll be lingering on your mind
In your song
Don't you cry
Oh, John
