Dreiviertel Drei - Socksual

When snow is falling and cold winds are blowing,
the logs on the fire crackle and shed warm, welcome light,
yet still she feels it cold — oh, so very, very cold —
cold enough to chill her to her core, so she

checks in her drawers, but all those socks are too thin,
(cotton-nylon mixes that let all the winter seep in), then she
gets out her knitting needles and bundles of thickest wool to
make a pair of cosy, thick matching alpaca wool socks, because

she’s a homosocksual; she likes it when they match,
when both feet feel the same and both are equally warm.

Winter is drawing in and he feels the chill in the air,
but already his wife has started to knit him a bunch of new socks,
which are all certainly colourful and warm him to his toes,
though he wishes they weren’t quite as plain, practical, boring and so

he reaches in for four pairs of socks and starts to mix them all up
(one blue, one purple, one with stripes and one plain),
then once they’ve all been well and truly jumbled up
he slips two on, stands up straight and jumps for joy again, for it’s clear that

he’s a heterosocksual; he prefers them odd
so that he can be weird as he likes and no-one even sees.
