about

I wrote this song about my favorite female criminal mastermind, Carmen San Diego! If you've never heard of her, she's the villainess from the popular PC game series "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" Although the details of Carmen's past change from game to game, it is commonly accepted that she was a detective for the ACME agency who grew bored with solving crimes and decided to become a criminal herself. She's good at heart, but she's got a flair for the dramatic and always steals things of great importance (one time, she tried to steal the history of modern medicine). The only other well-known character from the series is "The Chief", who is the head of the ACME agency and always one step behind Carmen. The game involves following Carmen's trail around the globe, solving clues, and trying to figure out where she's going to head next. The major spinoffs of the original game include "Where in Time is Carmen San Diego?" and "Where in the Universe is Carmen San Diego?"

lyrics

I used to be where you are now
An ACME loser
I used to think that was all there was
Now I can see my talents are more suited for
Playing for the other team
You see, I just need to have a little

So let’s play hard to get
Follow my silhouette
And catch me if you can
Read the clues, see the signs
You can search all space and time
You won’t find where I am
No you won't find where I am
You won't find where I am

When you look at me
You must think “wow, what a freak”
Well come and get me
There’s nothing wrong with me
I just like to make a splash

You see I used to play for the good guys
But, but being bad just feels so nice
So show me your worst, hit me with your best shot
C’mon Chief, is that all you got?

So let’s play hard to get
Follow my silhouette
And catch me if you can
Read the clues, and see the signs
You can search all space and time
You won’t find where I am
Where I am
Where I am
No
You can search all space and time
Let’s play hard to get
Yeah, catch me if you can

I used to swing for the home team
But truthfully it all just got so boring to me
You think you got me beat? Hah, that’s sweet
C’mon chief, come on and get me!

Let’s play hard to get
Follow my silhouette
And catch me if you can
Read the clues, and see the signs
You can search all space and time
You won’t find where I am
You won’t find where I am

No No No
No No No No

Read the clues, and see the signs
You can search all space and time
You won’t find where I am
Yeah but it's lovely where I am
Oh I love it where I am
Yeah you wish you could be
You wish you could be
Where I am
