I wrote this song (with Eric Ames) for the SpinTunes 22 Round 1 challenge.

"Weather Report: Write and record a song with lyrics about or prominently mentioning weather, either literal or metaphorical: hot, cold, rain, snow, sunshine, clouds, storms, etc., etc., etc."

I'd been waiting for SpinTunes to give me a challenge that inspired a Minecraft related song for a long time now. They finally did, but I was in Florida without any internet access during pretty much the entire round.

When I got back & saw what the challenge was I had an idea instantly. When you play Minecraft in a survival world you can go to bed when it gets dark. This allows you to skip to the next day & avoid all the monsters that spawn at night. It ALSO resets the weather. So if it's raining when you go to bed, when you wake up the rain will have stopped. Just like night time the rain (especially during storms) can bring added danger to the player.

When you play survival on a multiplayer server with friends all these things still apply, BUT everyone on the server has to go to bed at the same time. If there's just 1 player that doesn't, you can't skip to morning & you can't reset the weather. This song is about someone who really needs to go to bed to stop the rain, but there's this 1 guy who just won't go to bed.

People had 9 days to write this song, and even though it's a shadow I want people to know this was done in 8. I know it doesn't matter for a shadow song, but we ended up sticking to the same time schedule everyone else had. Props to Eric who does the hard part, and really nailed this.
