Mmmmm mmmmmmmm lai la la la lai Mmmmm mmmmmmmm lai la la la lai It feels good to be home But I've been sitting here too long The railway station calls my name Everybody thinks they know exactly how I'm feeling Is there still room for a one man band Who's destination clearly lies across the land I'm back on the road that's where I belong And this time I'm taking my love with me I'm bringing all my nicotine patches I ain't bringing any cigarettes or matches 'Cause I don't smoke anymore My guitar and magazines are all I need But nowhere as much as the girl I love Is there still room for a one man band Who's destination clearly lies across the land I'm back on the road that's where I belong And this time I'm taking my love with me I'm singing songs in places see all the strangers faces I'm sorry that I've been away so long And the night always ends too fast I look forward to the next time Now I'm gonna make this journey last Is there still room for a one man band Who's destination clearly lies across the land I'm back on the road that's where I belong And this time I'm taking my love with me And this time I'm taking my love with me

O! say can you see, now that morning has broken, The flag that was there when the sun disappeared? The flag of a land of which poets have spoken; That ancestors forged and defenders revered. O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er what they would know? What they fought to make so? A land in which ev’ryone gets to live free. A land where the people can be what they’ll be. A land where you have the right not to agree, But you know that it’s true That others can, too . . . A land where the masses are trusted to see The directions in which our best interests would be. We know being happy has no guarantee, But we’re free to pursue . . . And others can, too . . . So say can you see, by the light streaming o’er us, Our flag that’s endured through the darkest of days? A flag that’s inspired generations before us And still beckons now with the hope it conveys. O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O’er the land that we claim to be? The land that we aim to be? A land where all are free?

I sold my soul where Only lonely angels would go Beneath the street to Lift my spirit high off my feet But while I take my daily dose of liquid mistake I feel the sun set Under my skin And as the night falls I hear the pulse of the devil Beating out his oo-ee-oo-ee-oo With a bridge over my head oo-ee-oo-ee-oo I keep my dirty secrets hid oo-ee-oo-ee-oo Til one day they cut their way to you Connect my dots Shake myself and untie my knots I want to be free from these Chemical dreams I know my band of Patient friends are waiting for me So I turn my back on Hollow release And as the night falls I hear the wolves of the city Howl and I sing oo-ee-oo-ee-oo With a bridge over my head oo-ee-oo-ee-oo The call of the moon I soon forget oo-ee-oo-ee-oo Mystical lantern light the dark path through The song our ancestors once knew It's calling me back to you

When we were young I knew you were the one We were crazier then But then again, who knew what we'd become? Yeah, we still got it hot Nothing can ever stop us We just get better with time So I don't mind You're turning seventy five Cause now we're old and gray I love you more than yesterday When I see your wrinkled face I think my heart just might give way 'cause darling You're so precious to me You make me complete And life is sweeter than peaches and cream With you, my elderly dream Let's have a night out We'll take the shuttle downtown Buy Denny's with our senior discount But I'm proud to say that I'd pay full price for you You're always there To hold my hand when climbing stairs I've lost my teeth, you've lost your hair But we don't care We're the sexiest pair in the room And now we're old and grey I love you more each passing day And when I see your wrinkled face I think my heart just might give way And though we might be losing our minds I'm deaf and your blind We're going to be fine Because we make a good team You're my elderly dream And when I look back On those nights when we first danced I'm so glad you took a chance on me Cause I need you more than I can tell And I hope you know I'm so thankful for the road That has led us here But my dear The years have treated me well And now we're old and gray I love you more each passing day And when I see your wrinkled face I think my heart just might give way 'cause darling You're so precious to me And you make me complete And life is sweeter than peaches and cream With you, my elderly dream And when I see your wrinkled face I think my heart just might give way 'cause darling You're so precious to me And you make me complete Life is sweeter than peaches and cream With you, my elderly dream When we were young, I knew you were the one....

We busted out of Folsom prison twenty minutes ago We ran like hell but there's still so far to go So we jumped us this train and we're tryin to lay low And we're ridin along while that train whistle blows I've been listenin' to that whistle for as long as I recall But I ain't got no idea where this train goes at all But beggars can't be choosers - after all You know the bigger we come you know the harder we fall I guess I've heard this train might go down to San Antonio Just a hop skip and jump from Mexico As long it don't stop us out in Reno Cause I burnt me some bridges down there don'tcha know Well I'm just grateful for this train to take me anywhere Wichita or Bangalor I really don't care Take us far from Folsom, driver, as far as you dare And I'll be damned if any train ever takes me back there Yeah I'll be damned if any train ever takes me back there
6.
I should have listened to what they said They called you a cheat And don't I know it now It caught up with you somehow I should have noticed; I should have cared When you look at me It's like there's no one there And now I'm well aware You never quit your lying But I'm done sitting here alone and crying over you Baby, we're through The gauzy sunset, the fever dream Are long since past And it's just worn on me There's nothing more to see And every promise and pretty word Has hardened here And made itself absurd Before it's even heard I don't care what you say I'm still leaving you any old way 'Cause it's true Baby, we're through Baby, we're through And it is the way you smile That gives you away And it is the way you kiss - Like someone afraid I'm on to you Baby, we're through You never quit your lying But I'm done sitting here alone and crying over you Baby, we're through Baby, we're through Baby, we're through I'm leaving you alone And don't bother coming back home
7.
Everyday I'd wait for your knock on my door But it was never you that I was waitin', waitin' for You never never had a letter for me Till one day you came dancin’ down my street... Mr. Postman You’ve been my hero, you’ve been my prince You brought a letter from my missing boyfriend Says he’ll be coming home in five to ten Five to ten He can keep sending those letters, that’s fine Long as it brings you back and makes you mine Long as it makes you keep on comin’ around Because I want to know you now, Mister Postman Mister Postman You saw me cryin', and you touched my cheek Then I heard music, and my knees went weak You bring sweet words from far away But I don’t care anymore what they say What they say He can keep sending those letters, it’s fine Long as it brings you back and makes you mine Long as it keeps you comin' to my door 'Cause you’re the one I’m waiting for, Mister Postman Mister Postman Wait a minute Mister Postman I think you’re the most Come back when you finish your route Come back and take me out (Take me out!) He can keep sending his letters, it’s fine Long as it brings you back and makes you mine He can send hundreds of letters, and a hundred more Cause you’re the one I’m waiting for, Mister Postman yeah Mister Postman I hope I'm not being too forward
8.
Look at what you've done Donna dear Why did you take so long? All these years I'd been waiting for your call Now it's too late for Me and you were through So it seemed I'd learned to live a lie Burn a dream She will never leave my side I gave up hope on you Oh Donna I still Love you Wanna hold you Is this the end? Now you'll never be Anything but daydreams Of Love And of what Could've been... Once I called your name In my sleep I'll let go of those chains Love, I'll keep I could never do to her What you once did to me Oh Donna I still Love you Wanna hold you Is this the end? Now you'll never be Anything but daydreams Of Love And of what Could've been... I could never do to her What you once did to me Oh Donna I still Love you Wanna kiss you This is the end Now you'll never be Anything but daydreams Of Love And of what Could've been... Oh Donna

I'll warn you as a friend To keep her close 'Cause there's no tellin' what I'll do My cute obsession's Gotten pretty gross And I'll do anything To take her from you Hey, Jessie I'm not standing by any longer I'm not the kind of man I used to be I won't have many chances Left to squander When I get out Your girl belongs to me I've missed you both so much Since I've been gone I carved her name into my chest I realized afterward It's upside-down But it's the thought that counts And I did my best Hey, Jessie I just can not wait to visit I'm not the kind of man I used to be It's not too late to Educate you, is it? I'm sure you'll learn Your girl belongs to me Destiny has shined on me I know I must be with her Try to stop me this time And they'll pull you from the river I'll make her swoon with all The things I say And she'll be mine forevermore 'Cause if she ever tries To run away I'll throw her down the basement stairs And lock the fucking door Hey, Jessie Get this thru your stupid head, man I'm not the kind of man I used to be As soon as I'm released You're such a dead man And when you are Your girl belongs to me Hey, Jessie Let this be your last reminder I'm not the kind of man I used to be No matter where you run I'm gonna find her And when I do Your girl belongs to me
10.
I couldn't be what you wanted What you want is always subject to such change And I know that you're so tired Cos you've got a new apartment to decorate You left the man to keep your pride, Synthetic plants and earth, but once you were outside They all just melted in the sun. They all just melted in the sun. Give me a sign when the heat is rising And I will shelter you from ultraviolet rays Give me a moment to collect myself We fall apart in so many pretty ways So many pretty ways I guess I can't judge by sight or taste But smell and sound are saying you're real as anything If we don't touch again I might explode Ever upward, defying gravity I wrote you such pretty words Tried to make them real with a melody But our love, it just melts in the sun Our love always melts in the sun Give me a sign when the heat is rising And I will shelter you from ultraviolet rays Give me a moment to collect myself We fall apart in so many pretty ways So many pretty ways And you're melting through my fingers again I try to sculpt you back together You'd think I would have learned my lesson back when We won't stand up to extreme weather Dead of exposure, should have known better Give me a sign when the heat is rising And I will shelter you from ultraviolet rays Give me a moment to collect myself We fall apart in so many pretty ways So many pretty ways Give me a sign, a shout or whisper I can no longer see through the haze Turns out I'm plastic too you I'm just as fake as you

7 AM he turns on CNN Dabs a little Old Spice on that Chevy Chase chin He looks at the sheets where his trophy wife lay sleeping He is frowning in the mirror at his Samuel Adams belly Looks at her again and wonders does she really want me? Oh other men would kill to have her Oh other men would kill to have her He works in a 3x5 at customer service He keeps her picture on his desk Every day a man comes by and says "how'd you get that honey?" "You must make a lot of money" Yea you must make a lot of money Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Everybody is waitin' for her to come home Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Every man young and old is goin' on about Stacy's mom Well I don't know bout you but I feel bad for Stacy's dad Every day is pretty much the same Everywhere they go everybody knows her name Boys around the pool say they're hanging out with Stacy But he knows when honey's home all the boys will soon be aching So he sends them all home He has to send them all home Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Everybody is waitin' for her to come home Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Every man young and old wants her really bad Well I don't know bout you but I feel bad for Stacy's dad Stacy cries "Daddy, all the boys are leaving me!" "What is it with me? Don't they think I'm pretty as can be?" He rolls his eyes cuz he knows why This happens every time Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Everybody is waitin' for her to come home Yeah he knows that she has got it goin' on Every man young and old is goin' on about Stacy's mom Well I don't know bout you but I feel bad for Stacy's dad

We're reunited after all these years And you survived in spite of all my fears I thought I lost you on that fateful night So long ago Indeed the stars shone brightly in the sky But not so near as brightly as your eyes A mix of fear and fervor spurred us on But that you know We thought that victory was worth the cost But in our war for freedom both were lost The cause we championed has now been forgot As the world moved on After that day I laid my rifle down The drums that haunt your dreams are silent now And our comrades went their separate ways Their spirit gone Oh Miranda It all seemed so romantic to us way back then We were young and foolish and we paid the price In liberty and pain Oh Miranda Now that I hold you in my arms again I can believe that our sacrifice May not have been in vain While it is true that we're now old and gray And scars may fade but never go away Yet I think that there is still so much Of life ahead Now that we're together, free at last Let's just look forward and forget the past You return revived a future that I thought was dead Oh Miranda It all seemed so romantic to us way back then We were young and foolish and we paid the price In liberty and pain Oh Miranda Now that I hold you in my arms again I can believe that our sacrifice May not have been in vain

I don't seem to sleep a lot now when it's raining I don't need to watch my step, I know this road The winter snaps at my skin. I guess that I should care, or something But I don't seem to notice lately when it's cold Breath embraces the mist, becomes it, hides away in the shadows There's nothing left but letting go And then there's one more cloud Like a final breath into the wind, she dances away And the tolling echoes loudly And the raindrops eat away, bite by bite 'til nothing remains And as the chiming fades it's 3 A.M. I must be lonely She'd have wanted to be somewhere else that's warmer She always liked herself a sunny, tropic shore Who knows? Maybe that's where she'll be carried, maybe not But this is really not about her anymore Every word that was said or wasn't, every torturous regret All I can do is let them go And then there's one more cloud Like a final breath into the wind, she dances away And the tolling echoes loudly And the raindrops eat away, bite by bite 'til nothing remains And as the chiming fades it's 3 A.M. I must be lonely A life in ashes and a raincoat, and immutable, final loss The simple act of letting go And then there's one more cloud Like a final breath into the wind, she dances away And the tolling echoes loudly And the raindrops eat away, bite by bite 'til nothing remains And as the chiming fades it's 3 A.M. I must be lonely

Unpack my bags... I'm coming home And home is where my heart is And I've been gone so long It's strange that I can't fly Strange that I can't fly But now I see, what I could never see When I flew in the sky Forever night, every day! I could not see the stars But now my nights are everything The nights will all be mine Till I'll no longer be Till I'll no longer be... ...the Rocket Man My final flight... came to your door Our home was left as always 'Cos I'd been gone so long And I had flown so high I had flown so high And now I see, what I could never see When I flew in the sky Forever night, but now those stars I see them in your eyes And now our nights are everything The nights are yours and mine And I'll no longer be And I'll no longer be ...the Rocket Man This timeless flight Is done and gone But you can give me time And give me peace... So I will be inside your arms The only place I long to be And I will be Where I can sleep The Earth will cradle me And I'll no longer be I'll no longer be...

I am a scientist, true. But define "mad." Once I was blinded by beauty That I mistook for technology I loved to play with electronics Producing all kinds of crazy sonics But these days I'm a nature lover Give me a human under the covers BEAUTY mistaken for SCIENCE in the service of MONEY producing new TECHNOLOGY Connections, rejections Maybe too much introspection Too much to handle It can't hold a candle to you Goodness, Miss Sakamoto! Is it really you? Do come in. My, my, you haven't aged a day! May I offer you a cup of tea? You've heard, perhaps, that my little inventions have made me a wealthy man? My meters are all a-quiver Your touch gives me the shivers Now let's conduct an experiment No never mind, it's completely irrelevant My vacuum tube's overheated I've lost my cool, I'm completely defeated BEAUTY mistaken for SCIENCE in the service of MONEY producing new TECHNOLOGY Connections, rejections Maybe too much introspection Too much to handle It can't hold a candle to you ThinkPods and GeekPads And things that warm up Devices that vibrate Chips that make music Psionics, dildonics Good old telephonics Machines that go "bing," Science chthonic, Glowing rectangles And cables in tangles Just hop on the network You don't need to do legwork To find my location You don't need cogitation Texting is peachy But pheromones can't reach me Your webcam is online But that's not in real time Come over to my place I can't feel you in cyberspace... (SYNTH SOLO) I see your teacup is empty! Oh, dear, we've run out of sherry as well Please be careful where you step; the laboratory is awfully cluttered. It's so hard to find qualified help these days. What? You say you might be interested in assuming your old... position? Now your machinery's in order You can trust me, I'm a doctor You know that science is dandy But come on honey, give me some candy I want to study biology In specific, your anatomy BEAUTY mistaken for SCIENCE in the service of MONEY producing new TECHNOLOGY Connections, rejections Maybe too much introspection Too much to handle It can't hold a candle to you It was so good to see you, Miss Sakamoto! Do come back and see me again soon. Perhaps next time, you might care to have a look at my etchings? My door is always open.
17.
Remember I asked you back in the day If you'd always be as good to me as you were then? Now that we've made it fading to grey I'm going to have to ask you the question again We feel as young as the day we met We may be getting older but we're not dead yet So now I'm sixty-four I've got a question for you Are you going to love me when I'm a hundred and two? The sweater you made me - it's not very good I've put it with the other ones under the bed So let's not do what grandparents should But do whatever the hell we want to instead We feel as young as the day we met We may be getting older but we're not dead yet So now I'm sixty-four I've got a question for you Are you going to love me when I'm a hundred and two? We haven't got much of a pension to spend When you spread it over fifty-eight years But Dave and Vera could lend us a hand And Chuck could probably stretch to a couple of beers So if you can handle living with me I'm happy hanging on to such a wonderful wife But tell me the truth now - what will it be? Do you want a centenarian man in your life? We feel as young as the day we met We may be getting older but we're not dead yet So now I'm sixty-four I've got a question for you Are you going to love me when I'm a hundred and two?

Today I can't believe the way I took what you said yesterday And turned it into something That made me want to die You left, I wept it made no sense I wrote a song to help with it But looking back I'm wondering What happened to my mind 'Cause I can't believe today That I believed in yesterday I thought she'd left me half me half a man But look divided, I can stand The sun had has broken through the clouds And caught me in it's rays Hello Goodbye / Which One Who cares? I only know that I'm aware To see that girl leave me Send my troubles far away And I can't believe today That I believed in yesterday So you can ask me, "why'd she go I'll tell you plainly, I don't know But more than this I'll tell you That I don't really care She's gone, we're done And I feel fine The night before She said goodbye And now all things In my life's Getting better all the time And I can't believe today That I believed in yesterday No I can't believe today That I believed in yesterday That I believed in yesterday That I believed in yesterday

How well I know I'm down below You devoured me like a taco And you were the queen You gave all this pain to me But you are not a siren of the sea Now if I were to be king I would write your name within The leaves of a cactus tree Like an invader you treated me Yeah he fell down along the way But like a king he is today Jose Alfredo sing with me For the kings we couldn’t be Key change (vocalizing)

I've been holding on too tight And I've got to stop or something' s gonna pop Respondent shall refrain from coming within 100 yards of the Protected Person But I'm am watching baby Every move that you make I'll be watching baby With each breath that you take I've built this cage in in my backyard for you A cage of love With bars of steel and iron My special place for you Right beside the dog poo Can you taste my love for you? I love these lyrics why don't you? There are terms and conditions I can't Break but I can bend them slightly By order of respective state and all of it's authority and legislation I've got to watch you And I cannot be late The smiles you fake The bonds you break Can't you see You belong to me Restraining order renewed This time I've come unglued Shrink that tells me to Just find my happy place But then I see your face And every move you make And every vow you break And every breath you take I'll be watching you I'll be watching you I've built this cage in in my backyard for you A cage of love With bars of steel and iron My special place for you Right beside the dog poo Can you taste my love for you? I love these lyrics why don't you?

All my life she would tell me about How my mama ran off the night my daddy died How a dirty judge cut him down to hide his own shame And my aunt would sneer as she told me that I Didn’t look like pa and had my mamas eyes And how she could tell every time that I went and lied Cause the day is new and the morning light Is gonna show the world what is wrong from right The lies you told in the dark Will come home at last You cannot hide and you cannot run Cause I’m gonna see what it is you’ve done You can try and hide wicked but It doesn’t stay in the past 30 years later and a part of a team Comparing old cases with the new ones we’re seein’ Till the day I get a chance to open daddy’s old file But the bullets didn’t match the gun he had The DNA said kin- but not my dad So it had to be another one there from his family that night Then the hand of God in a hurricane Washed the Georgia clay from my ma’s remains And the nearby gun held prints that told us the rest Told us the rest! My aunt could tell when she saw my face That the body she hid without a trace Had come back home and was pointing right at her So now my father’s name is clear My aunts in jail for fifty years And my mama is layin’ at peace in the local graveyard Cause the day is new and the morning light Has shown the world what was wrong from right The lies you told in the dark Have come home at last You cannot hide and you cannot run Cause I’m gonna see what it is you’ve done You can try and hide wicked but It doesn’t stay in the past You can try and hide wicked but It didn’t stay in the past

[sitar intro] I wouldn't have done it If I'd known he was crazy I wouldn't have flown Before he woke up Norwegian wood costs a lot to install After the fire I've got nothing at all My wool rug is gone It was a gift from my mom The clock that kept time Was not even mine First shift in the morning is quite hard enough But some lug sleeping in my tub makes the showering rough. [sitar interlude] I thought it would be fun To bring home someone Now I know why I shouldn't have done it. [sitar outro]

about

The Musician Strikes Back - We want you to write a sequel. A song that picks up where another famous song left off. (2 minute minimum) (they had 8 days)

We are going to define "famous" by making you pick a song that has at some point been on Billboard's Top 20 for at least 1 week. This gives you a lot of options while making it easy for the judges to say if your song was "famous" enough.

Examples Of Songs With Sequels:
"Peggy Sue" & "Peggy Sue Got Married " by Buddy Holly
"It's My Party" & "Judy's Turn To Cry" by Lesley Gore
"Space Oddity" & "Ashes To Ashes" by David Bowie

There were more details that were not covered in the original challenge. For instance, you do not have to match the style of the original song. If you decide to do that, be careful not to plagiarize the original tune.

Us can use Billboard lists from different countries & different genres. And you have to use a singles list. You can't pick an albums list & take a song from a popular album. The song itself has to be on a singles chart.
